Writing and Power
Writing and Power Power: who has it, who doesn’t, and what does it have to do with your writing? This course both instructs students in how to access power in academic contexts and to critique power structures. We’ll learn how power connects to literacy, and how it's shaped through rhetorical contexts. Students will explore their own power as writers and thinkers while engaging in meaningful personal, reflective and argumentative writing. The professor will work with each student extensively on their writing process and development, and we'll create a writing community. This course bears elective credit but does not fulfill the college writing requirement.

Shana Shapiro is a great teacher who is very understanding of students' needs. She re-taught me how to write, and I value her input a lot. She has given me academic writing confidence that I will continue to use towards college. Overall, really recccomend this teacher, althoguht I would take a different course rather than writing and power as it was a bit easy.
Professor Villa is chill, funny, and accommodating to student's needs. Class time is usually used for discussion or writing and occasional "lectures". You will be exposed and asked to write in various styles. The whole course has a laid-back timeline, with homework mostly being writing and revising essays. Overall, the class is good if you want a chill class to practice writing in a stress-free environment.

Catharine was a very kind and accommodating professor. The readings were very manageable and the homework was consistent but never too demanding. The class is broken down into 3 major assignments. It is more of an introductory writing class for those looking to strengthen their writing in various genres.
I enjoyed being exposed to different writing disciplines and listening to Professor Hector's sharnigs in class. This class transforms my perception of language crafting and makes me more confident in academic writing.
Prof. Shapiro is a great teacher. She is very clear in her teaching and an incredibly genuine human. I frequently think about many of the topics that we covered in this class. I thought it was a great class.
Pretty easy for most part, all papers are broken up into different deadlines so as long as you keep up with those papers are not an issue. HW is typically just a couple pages of reading and a short answer about it.
Super chill professor, his grading style isnt too bad. You just need to go to office hours and you should be fine. Peer grading is a thing in his class so keep that in mind. Most of the readings could be done in an hour or so
This class was an absolute delight! Engaging lessons, passionate instructor, and valuable insights. Highly recommended for anyone eager to learn. Personally I would highly recommended for anyone eager to learn.
