Didn't need to do a single reading, he read the quotes from the books that he wanted to talk about. Didn't need to participate once in class, he doesn't care about that at all. Just three major papers that could be as long or short as you wanted, and he was super nice on the grading. Didn't have any homework besides the essays, and class would be spent just listening to him talk, chatting in small groups occasionally, and writing personal reflections that we wouldn't even have to turn in. Super easy and chill for a CW.

Overall, a great experience taking this course. Professor Shapiro is one of the most driven professors in relation to enthusiasm about what they teach. The writings and requirements are all very clear and the grading is fair but not easy

Hector Vila is very passionate. He talks alot but cares alot about his students. We read 4-5 books throughout the semester, but it wasn't really a requirement at all to actually read them. You free write everyday and there are 3 essays. I definitely recommend.
