Writing and Rhetoric Program

I took this course with Professor Wright in Fall 25. There were three main papers, which weren't too hard to score well on as long as you are working on tweaking your writing style to what Professor Wright is looking for (which is, I would say, a solid 7.5/10 standard). Lots of reading and annotations in the beginning of the course, more research based at the end. IMPORTANT TO NOTE that the concepts of power that you write about include mainly race, linguistic attributes, gender, and socioeconomics. Finally, Professor Wright can be a little scatterbrained with Canvas and deadlines, but she is great about clarifying if you ask.

I love Professor Vila's classes, and you should definitely take one during your time at Midd. Professor Vila is engaging during class and really helps develop your writing by making you write about yourself in a low-pressure situation. He doesn't grade and really just evaluates you based on effort. The class was super chill and a nice break from other hectic classes. The class content is interesting, too, and there were a lot of good discussions.

What an incredible experience taking this class with Hector. The class was at 8:15am and I was there early and excited to be there every time. It was so cool to listen to Hector speak and spread his knowledge on the world. The writing assignements allowed for me to express my feelings on topics that I rarely speak about, and Hector was very confidential and helpful when talking about the difficult emotions and situations the context of the class naturally brings up. Show up and work hard and you will do well. Would absolutely take again!
