Writing and Power
Writing and Power Power: who has it, who doesn’t, and what does it have to do with your writing? This course both instructs students in how to access power in academic contexts and to critique power structures. We’ll learn how power connects to literacy, and how it's shaped through rhetorical contexts. Students will explore their own power as writers and thinkers while engaging in meaningful personal, reflective and argumentative writing. The professor will work with each student extensively on their writing process and development, and we'll create a writing community. This course bears elective credit but does not fulfill the college writing requirement.

I enjoyed taking this course. The materials were very thought provocative and it is not heavy reading (only 2-3pages ) so it’s not stressful. Problem is that Professor won’t check all writing assignments. 2/3 can be checked by the Professor but one assignment will be checked by Peer tutor. Although, tutor was also super helpful.
This course was a great preparation to and introduction to college level writing. It is particularly useful to international students who might find it hard to navigate writing assignments. It was amazing.
Genie is a great teacher. She really cares about her student and the subject that she teaches. She ensures that her students learn from their mistakes so that they can improve upon them and become better students.
The class is pretty chill, its alot of writing but that's expected. If you need help or extensions he'll give it to you. Be mindful that the conspiracy you pick in the beginning is the one you'll use all semester. So pick one with lots of sources.
