Damascus Kafumbe
I think I really enjoyed the class, and it was not hard at all. Mostly, we came to class for a short discussion then we practice our selected musical instrumental as well as learn African dances for performance at the end of the course. However, there are writing parts where we have to turn in once a week and the professor is a bit strict about grading which I don't totally agree with.

This class was great! Prof. Kafumbe was really enthusiastic about the material, had great insights, and brought in interesting speakers. However, the work was really hard, ESPECIALLY for a first-year seminar. We had a 750-1000-word essay almost every week aswell as a response to the week's 30-60 page reading. On top of that, we had presentations.
Overall, I loved Professor Kafumbe! He is super nice and understanding. However, I did not find value in this course. We had QQQ's every week based on 20-70 pages of reading. We also had 500-1000-word papers due every weekday. In class, we had discussions, though they did not really contribute to our papers. We also had some lectures/performances that were required outside of class. I did not think this class was too difficult, but it definitely felt like a lot for a FYSE.
