Gary Winslett is a perfect professor for this course. He is very passionate about the subject and has a lot of cool analogies and takes on things. There were no exams, only three projects ,including a group oral exam, group paper, and group presentation. It was fun to be able to work with others, but it might be hard to coordinate if your schedule is extremely packed. The content was super interesting and covered a broad amount of international issues/topics. There was lots of reading assigned, but he went over many of the important ideas and events in class lecture, so it was manageable.

I took this class in Fall 2025 as my FYSE. Murray Dry is one of the most enthusiastic and passionate professors in this school. He really knows what he is teaching and is extremely knowledgeable. The books covered in the class are mostly interesting and engaging. It is a mix of philosophy books (Plato and Aristotle) and literature (Pride and Prejudice, Midsummer Night's Dream...). His grading for papers is extremely strict and you lose points with every gramatical mistake. Very enjoyable though and you get to learn a lot from him.

Professor Bleich was very passionate about the subject, and well organized. He was excited to discuss about projects and was ready to help during office hours! As the syllabus noted, it is crucial to keep up with your work and not fall behind! If you are on top of your work(from the start) you will most likely be able to do over half of your homework in class for the first half of the semester. Although I had minimal background in computer science the Jupyter notebook we used for the text analysis was clearly catered towards an audience with no previous knowledge. The whole semester you will be working in the same group and topic you choose in the second week of classes, so choose wisely. There was a ton of outside work to do during the last few weeks with multiple assignments and deadlines (about 7-8 hrs a week). All said I really loved this class, especially if you are potentially interested in data science/computer science.
