Christopher Klyza

This is course is one you take if you want to do public policy, no doubt, but it was still a fun course. Klyza is a great lecturer, a fair grader, and willing to help with all of your questions. Heavy reading, but all of the reading is discussed in the lectures.

Klyza is great and very engaging in lectures. Make sure to take notes the whole time. If you study and put a lot of effort into your papers, you'll get a good grade. He's also a very kind guy - don't be scared to go up and talk to him after class.

CK is an extremely knowledgable person when it comes to this field and you will learn a lot in this course. People complain that he is too difficult, however the your success in the class fundamentally relies on your attendance and attentiveness in lectures as well as doing the readings. He moves through loads of information in lecture and it is important to take notes on literally everything if you can. Doing the readings is essential - He gives 4 or 5 reading quizzes (10 multiple choice q's) over the course of the semester and even if you just read the readings leisurely you will do well on them, but if you do not read, you will not be able to get by on the quizzes and will lose what are essentially free points. The only other grades for the class are the mid-term, final, and research paper. In sum, go to class, pay attention, take notes, and read. CK is very very kind and accommodating and he may seem cold in lecture but his personality really comes out in discussion.
