This course was extremely interesting! This course introduces numerous schools of Chinese philosophical thought and it goes reasonably in depth on many (20+) Chinese philosophers of old until the modern era. Wyatt has his ups and downs as he is very kind, a bit quirky, rather considerate and overall has fair expectations. His biggest issue is he somewhat can be a bit bland and he only reads off his slides to teach and the slides are not given to students. However, Wyatt does try to make the course semi-entertaining with engaging students through some questions and quote analysis. Wyatt overall is a very fair grader and the workload is extremely manageable. Only homework are readings and the only major grades are a single 10-12 page paper and the midterm and final. The paper has very clear instructions and is graded fairly and the midterm and final are challenging but certainly doable. Wyatt provides a lecture list of all the terms for these exams and they are extremely helpful. Overall, the course content is super rich as Chinese philosophy is very interesting and even though Wyatt isn't perfect, the class is not too difficult and he is certainly better than the reviews suggest.

very relaxed, not much work except for readings. tests and quizzes were very straight forward and reflected what we learned in lectures. professor was very accommodating to students needs and was always available for help if needed.
This course was interesting for the most part. That being said, there was a heavy focus on Buddhism rather than anything relating to the mind or brain. I thought this course was going to have some focus on that, since it says mind in the course title. You do mindfulness 2x per week where in which you learn different meditation practices, which was engaging. Overall, this course is heavily focused on Buddhism and not necessarily what you would think. It was a nice course to get the distributions out of the way. There were 2 "exams" that were written, and closed note. The prompts were confusing and you really had to nail it down and have a good understanding in order to do well.
