English Lit 1800-Present
English Literature Survey: 1800-Present This course is designed as an introductory survey of English poetry, fiction, plays, and non-fiction prose from the late 18th century to the present. We will look at literary innovations and trends as we read a broad range of texts from the Romantic, Victorian, Modern, and Contemporary eras in their social, historical, and cultural contexts.
I would 100% take this course again. Professor Losano is very passionate about literature and offers students the capacity to explore their own zeal for the subject through creative interpretations of literary works. I appreciated that the papers were closed readings, focusing on analysis rather than formality and summary. This allowed for a more in-depth reflection on the literary work rather than the traditional superficial overview. If you ever need to take a literature class, please take one with Professor Losano.

One of my favorite courses so far at Middlebury. Professor Losano is clearly passionate about the material, and you will learn so much from her lectures. She is also very fair with grading. The readings will not take too long, and there is a lot of creative liberty when it comes to papers. I would highly recommend for anyone interested in taking a survey lit class.
I highly encourage everyone to take a class from Professor Losano if you have the opportunity. She's very passionate about teaching, literature, history, and generally what you have to say. Overall, this class was very chill, and she doesn't expect you to do every single reading, which is nice. She is also very understanding and accommodating, and makes you feel excited for the material and subjects being taught.

Professor Losano is extremely passionate about what she does. She is an excellent teacher but an even better person who is extremely accommodating and wants the best for her students. The class is not that hard but she makes it engaging.
