Antonia Losano
Antonia is amazing. Her syllabus made it seem like she was going to be a tough grader, but that wasn't the case in my experience. The class was pretty chill (a short book a week, weekly discussion posts & short quizzes and just 2 short papers). I would definitely recommend this class.
I loved Losano's teaching style and knowledge of the era. The readings were definitely intimidating but I have no regrets in taking this course. Losano does specify that she prefers hard copies of the stories, but you can definitely be fine with e-books and PDFs if purchasing physical copies is a barrier for you. The paper we wrote was just a close reading, which she was a little picky about (no intro, no conclusion, no summarizing the text, little things like that). Overall, I would reflect positively on my experience in this class and I recommend it to anyone interested in English.

I really enjoyed my experience with Professor Losano! Each week, we read a new Victorian era novella (up to ~100 pages). The books were actually pretty fun to read. Expect things like Alice in Wonderland, Christmas Carol, and Sherlock Holmes. On Mondays, the professor lectures about the book, and on Wednesdays we divide into small groups for discussions. These discussions are very chill, and the professor provides the questions to guide them. Outside work includes very short Canvas posts every week, where you write anything you want about the book, and then reply to two other posts. There are also very quick reading quizzes once a week, and two papers for the whole semester. The papers are each 3-4 pages. Professor Losano is extremely kind, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about the Victorian era. I would highly recommend her and this class!
