Ustadha Ayoub introduced a totally foreign language to me with which I had no experience reading or speaking, and by the end of the semester I felt comfortable writing paragraphs and holding basic conversations. The Middlebury language program is praised internationally, and I think it especially shines in this class. As much time as I spend in class, I spend outside of class. There is homework every night, and events that are to be attended, but the immersion it provides is exceptional and allows me to pick up the language better. Ayoub is passionate for the language and wants each student to always do their best. I would definitely recommend this to someone who is interested in the Arabic language.

Dima is a truly fantastic professor. She is incredibly effective at teaching difficult concepts and generating class discussion, especially with skits. Exams were fair. She creates a wonderful, warm class environment that is unparalleled with any other professor. Expect to be challenged but learn a lot.
Maryait is so sweet and excited to share the arabic language with her students. It's a hard subject, but if you like it and put in the work, you'll do well and Maryait will help a lot. We had nightly textbook homework, two partner video projects, quizzes every other week, a final and midterm exam, and required arabic events outside of class. Study the vocab early and often so that you don't have to cram.
