Beginning Arabic I struck the rare balance of rigorous grammar instruction and genuine cultural immersion, leaving me not just able to conjugate verbs but eager to keep speaking the language outside of class.
This course was surprisingly engaging. Professor Ayoub's passion for the subject makes this course worth taking. She is a great professor and person. I would recommend anyone take this course. The course seems intimidating initially but is completely manageable. We get assigned a lot of readings but class is doable with just a basic understanding of them.
Professor Liebhaber was super helpful. You always knew what to expect on exams. Most of class is spent doing speaking/conversational exercises, which went a long way in helping my informal Arabic. Homework is long, but you're not expected to always finish it, and the grading is flexible.
