Color in Theory and Practice
Color in Theory and Practice In this studio course, we will explore the role of color in art through exercises in a range of media: from paint to digital graphics software. We will discuss principles of color interaction, the composition of different artistic media, and the ways that color functions perceptually and expressively in works of art. We will also investigate the historical relationship between color theories in art and developments in physics, optics, and philosophy; the symbolic dimension of color in different art traditions; and the ways that digital technology has transformed contemporary understandings of color. Students will develop skills and sensitivities around color that can be applied in a variety of artistic practices. No prior artmaking experience is required.

Roger is the greatest. he is super passionate and will enage as much as you want. he knows people just take the class to fufill credit but also people take it for interest. he makes it so you can get as much out of the class as you want without getting a bad grade.
This was a really great art class!! As someone who has never taken art before, the material was straightforward and we often had control over the work that we wanted to produce. The project assignments would be given in class, and oftentimes they could be completed within the class. However, there were some projects that did require time outside of class in order to complete them. Overall, I definitely enjoyed this class!!

This course was great. You get what you put into it and if you are interested in art, Roger's lessons are extremely helpful. It was overall a very easy course but I had fun and felt like I learned a lot.
I loved this course especially because it was the shortest art class you could take! Professor White was very laidback and the projects were up to interpretation. The homework was only if you didn’t finish your art in class.
This is one of the best classes I have taken. He was extremely kind and made the material engaging. It was entirely project based. The work is super fun and can easily be completed in class, and what isn't finished is homework.
