This class is taught as a reverse classroom, where you read about the material beforehand, and then do problems in class. Compared to other STEM classes, most of the time out of class you are reading the textbook instead of doing problems. Morris-Wright is very enthusiastic about the material, willing to answer all questions, and always emphasizes there are many different resources available to help us. She uses a learning standards system, so once you prove your knowledge about a topic on a test, you are not graded on it again. There are biweekly tests and If you progress at a good pace, then each test is only a handful of shorter questions. However, if you fall behind, it can be difficult to catch up. Talking with students in other sections, we all agreed that the learning standards approach was better than the traditional exam format found in the other linear classes. Overall, this class is better than other linear algebra classes, but I wouldn't take this class if it wasn't a prerequisite.

I really enjoyed taking the class with Professor Wright. She provides ample opportunities for students to practice the lesson taught, doesn't overload the class with homework, and allows students to learn from mistakes. The practice exams, worksheets, and modules she posts really helped me get through this class without any trouble.
I was disappointed by my experience in this class. Professor Morris-Wright taught it as a flipped classroom, which I did not find particularly effective. Her grading structure makes it very easy to get an A (successfully complete a certain number of homework problems, quiz questions, oral exams, and a final project). When she does lecture, it is very disorganized and it seems like she's figuring things out on the fly. The book helps, but it's not a replacement for good lectures.
