Natalie Eppelsheimer
This course was co-taught by both Natalie and Florence. The pair are a super energetic, fun-loving, and engaging duo. The course moves pretty quickly but as long as you stay on top of vocab and review grammar concepts every so often, you're going to be just fine. The homework can be a little confusing sometimes in that the questions asked or the answers expected can be formatted in ways you might not expect. Vocab quizzes and chapter checks are graded quite strictly but fairly as the professors want you to understand the content thoroughly. Classes are a mix of lecture and student participation with anything from pretending to be at a restaurant or playing bingo by asking one another about our holiday plans. Would highly recommend for those even curious about learning another language!

Natalie and Florence are incredible professors! The class can feel intimidating at first but with practice the class is super fun and exciting. The class is pretty fast paced but the instructors do a great job of covering everything thoroughly. The instructors are very approachable and accommodating. Exams and quizzes can be intimidating but with lots of practice they are quite easy and graded fairly. Its amazing how much progress you can make in this one class and the professors are the main reason!

This course tends to get a bad reputation, and I can understand why given the flow of constant homework, exams, and essays. However, the course is ultimately highly useful in developing German reading and writing ability, and I found more enjoyable if you approach it from that perspective. It's in the name of the course: you're in an "advanced writing workshop," so if you're looking for a laid-back class with relaxed yapping in German, you won't find it here unfortunately.
