Mario Higa

This course was not extremely difficult, but the conjugations tend to trip up many students. The amount of homework assignments that were also given was sometimes outrageous, but they were all short and can be done in an hour or two, but you do have all week to complete them. The professor does make up for all of it. He is very passionate and helpful. I looked forward to going to his class every day. His lectures felt as if they were just conversations with us, and we got to know students on a better level, all in Portuguese.

this course was so much fun and I really felt like I learned a lot about both japanese and Brazilian history! professor higa is so amazing and understanding and has such a passion for his classes and for teaching his students that it made for every class to be so much fun! there are lots of group discussions and I was honestly always looking forward to sharing my opinion and thoughts that movies or readings we did evoked

The class was great and Mario Higa was awesome. Definitely went a bit fast but the grading is done in a way that everyone can get a good grade and there is not a lot of work. Great teaching style and very helpful in clearing up complex topics. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn Portuguese.
