I absolutely love Katy Smith-Abbott, and this class. She is very passionate about her teaching, so I am so sad to see her leave as a professor. I loved learning about Venice, and all the culture and arts that came about during the Renaissance. The class is very lecture heavy, and students have to pay high attention to what she is saying so we can get notes. She is very willing and enthusiastic to help students with any difficulties or clarifications.

Prof. Smith Abbott is the best, and this is a fun course. Through the class discussions (about philosophy, when you boil it down), I felt I got to know my peers well, and people shared vulnerable things. Some of the guest speakers were fascinating, others were boring. Prof. Smith Abbott has a knack for connecting with students and leading a class—she's personable and not the slightest bit shy or awkward. The final project (creating or leading something awe-related in the community) was a great opportunity to be creative.

This class was manageable for art history, and it gives you a lot of distribution. I was only placed in this class because I had scheduling issues. The class consists of taking notes on her lecture presentations. She gives assigned readings, but after the first exam, I realized you do not really have to do them.
