The class was very fast-paced and gave us a vast introduction to the Portuguese language and the many lusophone countries and cultures you can use the language in. While at times the work felt excessive, it was for the purpose of ingraining a lot of information into our heads in a short period of time. Even as someone who had a little background in the language prior to the course, I felt myself falling behind after the first month. Still, a fun and valuable class that gets you speaking Portuguese fast!

It was awesome to have a class with Prof. Rochea! It was really enjoyable as the language was taught to us through cooking, singing, and other nontraditional methods of teaching. There was quite a bit of homework every week ,though.

This class is really chill, and Professor Rocha is super guy who loves to engage with students. He would start every class by putting on his favorite Brazilian music and greeted every student as they walked in. He knows so much about film and cinema (granted I was a complete beginner) and always pointed out things about the movies we watched that I never would have noticed on my own. He ended the semester by buying the whole class a nice breakfast to help us destress heading into finals. If you want a chill class to fill your schedule, this is the one.
