Allison Jacobel

This was a great intro course for ECSC. Professor Jacobel is a great teacher, and clearly interested in the topics of the course. It is a survey course, so moves fairly quickly, but none of the topics were very difficult or confusing.

This is my first course at Middlebury. Professor Jacobel is a wonderful teacher. She engaged the class really well and could push us to think beyond the materials and lead us to use our own experience to contribute to the discussion. The class is super fun if you want to learn some information about every aspect of our Earth. The workload is not that much if you stay on top of everything. Some labs might take longer than others, but overall is super great.

This is the best course I have taken at Midd and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There can certainly be times where it feels like a bit more tough than other 100 level classes but Allison's teaching style is incredible! She is clear about the expectations for each assignment and reminds students of course themes and how each lecture relates to them so just by showing up and paying attention it is not too difficult to succeed. Easily the most enjoyable and valuable class I have taken in my three years at Midd I can not recommend enough. I wish every class could be taught like this one.
