I particularly appreciated how the course connected historical events to contemporary Jewish American experiences. The readings, discussions, and lectures helped me see how themes such as identity, community, and belonging continue to evolve across generations.
The professor did not have a firm, established schedule for the class, but, instead, an overall layout of the assignments throughout the course. It felt very disorganized and free-flowing in a way that I did not enjoy since too many deadlines changed quite often. Though, I did get to learn a lot of new things, I didn't feel I could make good use of them in the assignments.
The course was mainly readings and discussion-based lectures. There were assignments, but the course was primarily oriented towards the final project that incorporated an oratory interview. Professor Livny was very helpful and understanding in this course.
