Professor Ted is very knowledgeable about the topic and very accommodating to students' needs. There was a study trip for this course when I took at and the planning was very comprehensive and immersive to help us understand the context of our materials.
Can’t say I’ve ever had a class like this since. Jacobson is a total beast. Hannah Arendt? Yes, please. Went snowshoeing. Character-building class. It was a deep dive into a philosophical question with a philosophical guy — and some philosophical try hards sprinkled in. But, overall, I became a better writer. We lived, we laughed, we loved.
This was a really awesome class experience. It was truly different than any other class I have ever taken. Each student had the opportunity to interview a member of the Kolot Chayeinu congregation, which is a great project. I learned so much about oral histories as well as the uniqueness of Kolot Chayeinu. Lana Povitz absolutely loves this class and it shines through. While the 3 hour night class is long, it is manageable and there is not much work outside of the class. I recommend taking this class if you want to take a class with Povitz or want a cool experience.
