HowMoney MakesWorld Go Round
How Money Makes the World Go Round Our society is structured around money – how to get it, how to spend it, how to amass it. Power comes easily to those with more than their fair share of it, and powerlessness plagues those without it. In this seminar we will study key aspects of the financial system, while examining the inherent biases, inequity, and unfairness within the institutions we rely on. We will explore ideas about how to address those impediments through readings devoted to current events, personal memoirs, and essays. Our discussions will illuminate the problematic way that money makes the world go round, while we also learn to navigate our own personal financial journey.

Final was a group project where we presented basic financial literacy to the local middle school. Almost everyone in the class got an A if you contributed your fair load and attended most class meetings. No exams / tests, and essays were graded based off of how well you could integrate her revisions. For example, her essays were graded in multiple parts instead of one overall grade. This allowed for many students to get full points for all parts except the last one, and the last one was the essary overall. The first ones were based off of how well you could write an outline, make edits / revisions etc.

Love Magri. She is an easy grader and also gives people lots of leeway and opportunity to do well. 10/10 recommend any class with her. What she teaches is highly applicable to life beyond college. She makes the class environment like a learning session more than a cut throat packing of material. She encourages discussion, and the final project is very fun.
Prof. Magri is very fair when it comes to deadlines, and she wants to see everyone in her class succeed. She is good at what she does, and I would retake this course if I had the chance. She was an accountant so she is very knowledgable about this subject.
This first year seminar is great if you want to learn more about financial literacy. However, I know not everyone is and those of my peers who was not did not seem to enjoy them. Prof Magri is overall a good teacher although she is very strict when it comes to showing up to class on time or submitting work. To some extent, this calls felt like my highschool class. But overall, I liked it.

Professor Magri is very kind and the class was interesting. She is an easy grader and there is not a lot of work outside of class. Most first year seminars have a lot of writing, but our class only wrote one essay.
