CHEM0103 with Kristina Shrestha15 hours ago

This class is heavy on assignments that are due every week, in addition to the lab reports that we have. I would say that that the lectures are not enough to learn the material and you should read the textbook and do many practice problems on your own time to prepare for the exams and actually learn. Prof Shrestha's teaching style was not detailed enough and is surface-level at times so reading the chapters before class really helps understand the lesson. It is also important to keep up with the assignments especially with achieve because it is really easy to fall behind and it can impact your grade.

CHEM0104 with Cole Dovey3 days ago

Lecture: While professor Dovey was a great lecturer, his examples are not always the best for clarification. For some students, his explanations seemed to work great. For other students, however, he wasn't always able to create an explanation that was easier to understand. Overall, though, he was very understanding and was passionate about helping students learn. As for the lab section - worst lab I've experienced in my history of college courses. Professor Dubé was very back and forth with attitude, as in some days she seemed friendly and other days she was incredibly passive aggressive towards the class. She was not respectful of student confidentiality in regards to personal matters, and not at all accommodating towards students who were struggling. Furthermore, her grading criteria is what truly makes this class feel like a weed-out course. The lab reports are very long, tedious, and difficult - and she marks off points for almost anything she can find. Formatting, tables being too long, things of that matter carry more weight than I personally feel they should. It didn't feel like the goal was to prove you're knowledge or growth of learning chemistry, it felt like the goal was getting on her good side and figuring out what she wants *exactly* on the lab report. This lab was very mentally taxing and made me reconsider my involvement in the department.

Professor Repka is such a sweet professor. However, she moves so quick through the material. Her exams were not that bad and you'll be fine if you've done all the homework assignments because the exams are based on the homework.
