Michael Sheridan is one of the most engaging professors I have had. He loves his work and is excited to teach. There are 5 fieldwork projects which make up a hefty chunk of the grade. He is a slightly harsh grader with them but the class is really enjoyable. You learn a lot and you have fun doing it.
I took this course because I was unsure of what I wanted to major in. By the end of it, however, I had figured out that this was a field I could see myself going into. Sheridan's teaching style and the way the course is laid out are both thought-provoking and lead you to consider environmental issues through a different lens. Overall, I would highly recommend this course if you are considering anything anthropology-oriented.

Professor Sheridan is a character for sure. His lectures are incredibly engaging and lively, as it's clear that he is deeply passionate about the topics being taught. There is a lot of coursework, but it's very diverse in the aspect that there are media responses, fieldwork, group projects, and discussion, which allows the work to not become repetitive. An incredibly caring person and a very interesting class, but it is hard to get an A as his grading can be difficult.
