Zu Zhai
NSCI
Behavioral Neuroscience is a hard class, with dense but very valuable and interesting context. Zhai grades chill for everything but the exams, which are also formatted in a difficult way. He is however accommodating, organized and very helpful when you ask questions. I think Zhai is a very fair professor, and teaches in an engaging and enjoyable way
Class content was super engaging. Midterm paper and exam were assigned during midterms - the paper was quite difficult, lengthy, and complex. Wasn't super accommodating with student concerns. Concepts were interesting to learn about as a neuroscience major. I did enjoy delving intensely into a primary literature paper, but they were also pretty dense. Overall, the content was interesting, the professor wasn't the best at understanding accommodations, but I have learned a lot.

I have really enjoyed this course. The content feels a lot more tangible and applicable compared to Neuro 251. Prof Zhai is a fantastic lecturer and sets clear expectations for the course. It is definitely a solid amount of work but most of it is completion based (Concept Questions, Pinel Book, and 3 case studies) and then a lab report, 2 exams, and an oral final.
