The course was highly engaging, and the material was manageable. Usama structured the classes primarily around discussions, making it essential to keep up with the readings. From the beginning of the semester, all assignments and their grading criteria were clearly outlined. The professor made the class enjoyable, and I learned a lot.

The course was great for improving my Arabic. The professor had a nice and clear teaching style. The homework is very important to do. Class participation is very important for grades. Need to study the vocab and grammar every day to be successful on the exam.

I really enjoyed this class with Prof. Sultan. I found the deductive reasoning side of linguistics to be really fascinating. I thought a lot of the work felt like solving language problems, which lead to me really enjoying this course. The homework can be difficult. He does grade on accuracy because he wants to make sure that understand the material to the best of your ability. If you get a grade you don't agree with, you can demonstrate your understanding or your dedication to understanding and he might let you have a second chance at whatever assignment it was. I took this class after taking some higher-level linguistics courses so I didn't think it was too hard, but it might be harder for those that have just come from an intro linguistics course.
