This class was one of the most interesting classes I have taken here at Middlebury and I highly recommend it. If you meet with her, she gives you great and fair advice on your papers and helps you get a better grade. Grade is heavily based on participation as well.

This course was really fun. prof tran is amazing, she doesnt assign much homework but you have to do the readings for the class every week since you exchange emails with another person from class reflecting on the material for each class day. There is also a final presentation and two papers that weren't hard if you started them early and paid attention in class.

Took this class with Fulya Pinar who is very passionate and has loads of real world experience on the topic of migration. Classes consist of long lectures that build upon theoretical frameworks that you read before class, most of these are pretty long and very skimable as the ideas they are presenting are not super complex. After each reading is an easy pre-class reflection you have to do about the reading. There are also migration pods (essentially mini projects) that are pretty chill and not too much work. There are 2 main projects which have slightly confusing instructions but are not much work. Professor is very accomodating and a really cares about the class and the projects.
