Susan Watson
PHYS
The thing I appreciated the most about this course was that even though the material could be tricky, everything was super fair. Professor Watson let us know from day one what she expected of students, and what students could expect from her. Problem sets, labs, etc were always in a predictable format, and I appreciated knowing exactly how my final grade would be derived. There was also a good spread of how each element of our work would affect the final grade, so there was an impact on my grade that came solely from putting in the effort. Overall, a very good experience in this course.

The professor has clear lectures, and conveys the material well. There is an expectation that you are putting in a lot of effort to grapple with the concepts (it is quantum physics after all). The second half of the course does get more difficult as the material becomes more dense.
It was a struggle throughout the entire semester. Spending so many hours on homework problems to the point where it only counts for about 5–10% of the final grade was not worth it. The exams are 83%+ of the entire grade. So focusing on understanding the material would have been more helpful than giving us a bunch of hard questions and expecting us to "learn" while doing the problems. We only have so many hours in a week to learn at our own pace while also finishing up all of the assignments.
