Summer Jack

Summer Jack was flexible with grading weekly journal entry homework assignments, although the due dates for some were not clarified by the professor so it was easy to get lost. The class keeps you busy by going to mandatory performances around campus, which was unexpected based on the course description. Projects require unique thought but aren't inherently difficult to do perform well in, and definitely don't overlook class attendance and participation.

I really liked this class, but felt that Professor Jack's teaching style was incredibly fast-paced, which made it hard to retain any material. The exams are impossibly hard, with her asking extremely specific questions that were said in the lecture weeks ago. If you take good notes, you should be fine, but good luck keeping up in lecture; she speaks very fast. My favorite part of the class was the last 30 minutes when we would do some sort of activity relating to our class discussion. These were always super fun and engaging, and we even got to take some of our pieces home. Overall, take this class if you are willing to put in the work it is not an "easy A", but it can be fun if you meet the deadlines and keep up with assignments.

I thoroughly enjoyed this class. The lectures each class went over the reading and included art from the time period. Every class, we get to do a craft related to the time period then turn it in for completion points. The crafts are very enjoyable, including hats, bracelets, and coloring pages. The class is very interesting but also laid back, which is amazing. We have 5 small projects that include analyzing art from the time period we're focusing on and two major projects. We have open note quizzes every three weeks. She also brings her dog to class every day! I loved this class.
