Peter Matthews

This course made me want to major in economics because of how engaging and thoughtful Professor Matthews is. He was constantly connecting what we were learning to real world, relevant issues that I found extremely valuable. I definitely know more about economics and am a more informed citizen because of this class. Matthews is also just an incredibly kind person and fun to chat with!

Very easy course, Matthews is very passionate however sometimes the lectures are long winded. Gives partial credit and just need to study the problem sets to be successful. The exams are almost exactly the same.

Unless you are bound to be an economist, this course like all other econ courses can be a bit monotonous and disinteresting. Matthews does his best to make it engaging but in the end we are doing calculations for GDP and making trade graphs. The material itself isn't very hard and if you have some degree of prior macro exposure the class will be extremely easy. 4/5 quiz grades make up 80% of grade and they are average in difficulty.
