Peter Matthews

I took with Peter Matthews. Really nice teacher and can tell that he is passionate about work. He lets you drop your lowest quiz which is nice because you can go home early if you dont need it. He grades relatively easy, but goes over the class time relatively often. Cold calls

I really enjoyed intro macro with Professor Matthews. He is very passionate about the subject and very helpful and approachable. People are initially worried about his cold-calling policy, but I eventually got used to it and found that it helped me pay closer attention and became such a regular part of the routine that he or my classmates were never judgmental about wrong answers. The tests can be a bit challenging but office hours are very helpful and the content is similar to the problem sets.

I had a fantastic time taking intro macro with Matthews, especially because he doesn't simply stick to textbook examples and graphs to explain concepts - he really uses lots of real-world examples. He is famous for cold-calling students, but it's a good way to make sure you're paying attention and to increase participation.
