Oh Paul. How sad I am you're retiring at the end of this semester. I agree with many other reviewers that he was a terribly picky grader, but that he was one of the most entertaining lecturers I've ever learned under. I loved this class and the energy he brought every day. One time he even brought his dog to Zoom class. I'm gonna miss him terribly.

Paul Monod might just be my favorite professor at Middlebury, and I’m a stem major. He is so smart, almost intimidatingly at first, but you will soon learn he’s an extremely nice and helpful man with a good sense of humor. The course is dense, but you learn a lot. The essays are graded harshly, but it’s not impossible. Go see him if you are stuck.

It is very unfortunate that Professor Monod will be retiring after next semester. I have taken classes with 14 different professors and Monod is by far the best Professor I've had. Yes, he is a tough grader, but he is compassionate and very helpful. I will actually be a better writer once I have completed this course, which is more than I can say for the other courses. This guy does sometimes go on long tangents when you ask him a question but that just shows how passionate he is about History. If you have a chance to take his class next semester, I would highly recommend this dude. Sure, you will not get an A but you'll actually learn something. Monod = GOAT. I'm going to start a petition to try and prevent him from retiring, seriously what a loss he is going to be to the department. We should organize outside of his office next semester and barricade him inside to prevent him from leaving. I'm sure he isn't motivated by money but I think if the college offers him a 2 year contract worth 500k I think he'll do it. Please folks we cannot let this man retire! Let me put it this way, I will donate my appendix and gallbladder to his charity of choice if he remains at least until 2025.
