Love, love love Prof. Saldarriaga. Nothing much more to be said, because if you have taken a class with her, you know what I mean, and if you haven't, you definitely should! I took this class because it was the only 300-level course that fit in my schedule, not because I had a particular interest in the actual course material/decolonial thought in films, but it was fascinating. Her enthusiasm for the topics is infectious and it was so interesting to watch movies that we've either seen or heard of (or not at all), and then discuss these different plot or character points that are covertly colonialist (coloniality of gender, race, knowledge, power, etc.). We were going to have a final exam but then she changed it to just be a final project. I didn't feel like I got as many opportunities to actually practice my Spanish or grammar/speaking, so that makes me a little nervous for going abroad next semester, but overall loved the class and love the professor.

This is an awesome course with lots of great reading that gives a pretty comprehensive look at decolonial thought. Typically in a week you watch a movie and do a reading before each class. 80% of both readings and movies are in english (kind of weird) but class is entirely discussion based all in Spanish. Patricia is an angel who makes it easy to participate and is very accomidating. She is very into decolonial thought, movies, and zombies. I recommend this course!

Prof. Saldarriaga is one of the sweetest professors I've ever had. She is super understanding about different needs students may have and it is obvious she cares. She is passionate about her topics and always brings an interesting perspective to the table.
