This course is great despite being somewhat fast-paced. Since you are only focusing on the Tale of Genji, you get a great sense of who these characters are. The story is beautiful, and I really enjoyed our assigned readings. However, because the story is very long and there is a lot to cover each week, weekly assigned readings are often very hefty and require a good chunk of time outside of class.

I took this class because I've heard good things about the professor. I think she is a great professor. She was very accommodating for her students' needs. I never watched anime but I've found the the anime we've watched in class to be very interesting. She talks about feminism and gay relationships a lot. Anyways, I had a good time in this class.

Professor Otilia is super chill. I took this class to get my distributions out of the way but was a lot easier than I expected. 2 papers and a final project that was about 1500 words. There are screenings but they are not required
