Michael Czekanski

This class was not that hard overall. The exam was exactly what we did in class and worth 35% of our grade. It gets hard to pay attention in class because the lecture style isn't very interesting especially because it's all coding. Czekanski is very smart and very knowledgeable but I don't think he was the best person to teach an intro stat class. He was very accommodating when it came to homework though.

I really enjoyed learning to code in R BUT I don’t think Czekanski is a very effective teacher. We just copied what he typed on his computer and he wasn’t great at answering questions. The homework assignments were pretty straightforward and there was no other work outside of class, besides the final project. That being said, we had a midterm exam that was 35% of our final and a completely new level of applying the concepts. It felt far beyond why we had done up to that point in class. Maybe he’ll make changes going forward but I’d recommend a different prof

While I went into this class with high hopes, I was a bit dissapointed. Professor Czekanski is defintiely passionate about r and likes to show you some of the cool research he has been up to, but hasn't mastered the teaching or explaining part yet. He struggled to answer questions and actually explain material. The class was basically just copying the code he wrote, but the homeworks and exams would involve content we had not gone over in class at all. The midterm is open notes and the homeworks don't take super long which are a good plus, but overall would recommend to take with another professor.
