Loved this class. MMB is very passionate about her coursework and on helping her students succeed. Overly accommodating and so impressive to watch. Would highly recommend for any level of writer, very easy to get a hang of.

MMB is a sweetheart but unfortunately I did not click with her teaching style. The course felt too reading heavy, not enough attention to the writing, we barely workshopped pieces in class. we were expected to do it in small groups outside of class but obviously didn’t stick by that rhythm. MMB is a very knowledgeable instructor but I felt that she didn’t share her writing wisdom as much as she could’ve, instead being very focused on discussing readings during our in class time. As helpful as that might’ve been for some, the purpose of taking this course for me was improving my writing, and I’ve taken enough literature courses to feel that it wasn’t very useful for me.

I absolutely loved MMB. She is passionate and dedicated. She is a working professional so plan ahead if you want to meet with her in person, but it's doable. I enjoyed the books we read, a lot, they weren't just classics and actually taught me things. Lots of writing, but that's to be expected, it's a creative writing class.
