I love Span 220 with Marcos. They're an enthusiastic professor and are always free to help during office hours. The Class covers a wide range of material, focusing on Dictatorships in Argentina the second half of the semester through reading "El Eternauta," its an entertaining graphic novel and helps you undderstand the language as you learn the langage as you read what is happening on the page before you. The Class is discussion heavy and there is alot of time to practice your spanish, you have McGraw hill due every other week, and occasional grammar review. The class is subjunctive heavy!

As a grammar course there was a lot of homework and time spent outside of class on Connect, reading, and writing. Overall Marcos has a lot of energy and enthusiasm for the content and they made class very engaging. The work outside of class was difficult for me especially when paired with a STEM course-load. Overall it was a decent way to check the 220 box but nothing special.

Professor Rohena-Madrazo is one of the best professors on campus. His passion for the material is infectious and every class is a lot of fun. The course itself is a little tough, especially if you don't already have a background in linguistics, but still very manageable. Daily homework to keep you honest about the readings, a few papers that I found easy to write, and a couple of take home exams that weren't too difficult.
