Marc Witkin
Witkin is a very passionate classics teacher and he definitely knows what he is talking about very well, but his lectures are a little too dry for my taste. I found myself somewhat dreading going to the lectures out of boredom, but I enjoyed the discussion sections where he would engage with our comments and questions quite thoroughly. Overall, if you aren't interested in the classics or the Illiad, Odyssey, or Aeneid, you probably shouldn't take this class.

Witkin is very passionate about classics, but the class was almost entirely lectures that were quiet dull to someone who was not very interested in the topic. He did not make classics accessible to people not already invested in the topic. It was a lot of reading and 2 blue book exams that took me 3+ hours each, but other than that the only major assignment was an essay (and weekly discussion posts).

This course definitely introduces you to the classics department. Witkin loves the material, you can tell. The classes were endless lectures and then reading for homework, and we had 2 papers. The exams were blue books and we sat there for 4 hours
