I really enjoyed this class I found that the content was really interesting and engaging. Although this class has a significant amount of reading, I always found the readings themselves interesting and didn't mind that they were sometimes long or complex. The grading of the class was more than fair, with very clear expectations and plenty of support if you need it. I really enjoyed this class and would definitely take it again.

This class was super enjoyable and I really liked the group discussion based classes. You will be most successful in the class if you thoroughly do the readings so that you can participate in class. She also fosters a great environment to practice oral skills and isn't harsh on grammar.

This course was super interesting and Prof. Felman was clearly very passionate about the material. She also cared more about your critical thinking of ideas rather than grammar, and would help you out in class if you needed a word translated. It is very reading intensive, which could be difficult at times especially because some of the works were entirely in spanish and complex, but the themes we learned about were fascinating. It will change your perception of motherhood and giving birth. We had to attend office hours twice, write 8 discussion posts throughout the semester, write three essays (not that long though), and lead a class discussion for one of the days. The final project (worth 35% of the grade) was to read an entire book in spanish, have a one-hour discussion with your group, then give a presentation to the class. It sounds like a lot but she was a very fair grader and the essays were interesting to write about. I would recommend for all women interested in studying abroad in Latin America.
