Luis Castaneda
Professor Castaneda is so sweet and very accommodating. The course is very fast-paced, but Professor explains grammar/ vocabulary/ reading materials very well. Participation is really important in this course to progress. There wasn't much forced participation, so it's important not to be afraid to be wrong and answer questions. Overall, I feel like this class has bettered my Spanish!

This course is a great review after taking AP Spanish. It's taught fully in Spanish, so it's an opportunity to practice your speaking and listening skills. The course mainly focuses on grammar and some thematic concepts. It's not worth studying the vocab. The exams mostly just require knowing the grammar structures.
I came into this class having taken Spanish for 6 years, and I was pleasantly surprised how helpful I found the course materials to be. I was not exposed to the clear cut rules of Spanish morphology, so I liked that the class was focused almost entirely on advanced grammar (subjunctive, reflexives, tense, aspect etc.). I developed my Spanish writing and brainstorming skills, and Professor Castañeda was very accommodating to the entire class to let us revise and receive a new grade for the essay. We also did a lot of discussion and practiced speaking with our classmates, which I found a great help to getting comfortable with conversational Spanish. We also practiced our presentation skills; every week, two students would lead a presentation on Hispanic themed topics. Castañeda was very chill about grading our presentation.
