Great introduction to cell biology with fast-paced lectures and a passionate teacher who accomodates students needs. The instructor was always available during office hours and would spend as much time as needed to work through the material. Any confusion that I had going into the meeting was solved by the time I left. Would take the course again, instrucot rmade classes interesting and connected material to real situations.

Professor Ward brings a really interesting biological perspective to basic biology. He is a cancer geneticist, and constantly was weaving bits of that knowledge into the lecture. That being said, the class was very reading heavy, and there were so so many quizzes. Within the first four class meetings we had two quizzes and a test. If you do the reading you will be fine, but don't expect to learn the material before taking the quiz unless you do it on your own.

A fast paced and quiz intensive course, with the bulk of the grade coming from the four exams and weekly quizzes. Material is generally aligned with AP bio curriculum but accelerated. Skim reading and good notes on provided lesson goals will make your life significantly easier on a week to week basis, as the knowledge that is expected of you is given at the beginning of every week on Canvas. If you have good notes on the reading guidelines, you'll know what is to come on the exams and quizzes. Professor Ward is enthusiastic about the material and often draws examples from his personal life, making it much easier to be engaged even in an 8:15.
