James Butler

This course was taught by Kate Gridley, and I really enjoyed it. She graded with the idea that she just wants to see improvement in your work. If you do the work and show up to class then you will get an A.

Jim is an amazing teacher. He makes a very comfortable environment with the student models and gives thorough and even feedback to your work weekly. I would absoltueyl take a course with Jim again for sure.

This course is very interesting and I would insist anyone who is interested in studio art at Middlebury to take it. Like most art classes this one is a fair amount of work outside of class but very low grade stress since if you do your work you will pretty readily get an A. Butler can be a bit difficult sometimes with his intensity, but for the most part, he is very knowledgeable and very willing to help.
