Fulya Pinar
I took this class to fill my schedule but it turned out to be very interesting. The class is overall pretty easy — weekly writing responses to the readings, two papers, some chill quizzes, and one discussion to lead. Prof. Pinar is very kind and accommodating. The topic of law and politics through an anthropological lens was very interesting.
Prof Pinar is very passionate about what she teaches, but the lectures felt so repetitive because we had to do reading response posts, and she would still give us basically a summary of the readings in class, rarely added new info, and the class vibe felt like if you didnt agree with her then you were wrong. Dreaded this class.
This woman is so amazing and passionate about teaching that I would absolutely take any course with her again if I was an anthropology major or minor. The class is itself was also interesting, full of engagement from both the professor and students. It does have lots of readings, though not necessarily burdensome or overwhelming, and it does require some group work and presentations.
