Evan Camrud

Absolutely loved Prof. Camrud. Clearly passionate about Math and is an excellent teacher as a result. Is very friendly and personable as well and makes showing up to the classroom fun. His grading is fair and it feels like we are being evaluated on our knowledge rather than just memorizing rules. I would recommend him to everyone looking to take math courses.

The teaching style seemed very fair. Lecture videos every day before class were helpful and weekly quizzes were fair as well. Overall, great class although some subjects were difficult to understand, but he made the effort to explain in office hours.

I took this course to explore more math options, and am glad I did. Camrud operates as a flipped classroom, which personally worked well for me. I found it useful to skip backward and replay any part of the lecture that I was having trouble with. Moreover, I did not have to worry about missing something when I got distracted. Each class had an assignment due based on the lecture video for that class. He sets up groups to work on the assignment, and he answers question, as well as the TA. There was a weekly quiz, which featured two questions. It seemed daunting at first, but worked out well. It gave me a reason to continuously review the material from the week. The grading structure was nice. The final grade was based on the cumulative grade from the weekly quizzes. If the grade was bad, you had the opportunity to retake any (or all) of the quizzes during the time of the final exam. Overall, Camrud made the course very accessible and interesting whenever possible (he is very passionate).
