Evan Camrud

Professor Evan is very nice and always willing to help students thrive. He did open-notes quizzes which were easy if you studied for them, and there was no exams. The final project was a paper + presentation on any topics related to DiffEq.

I had a really positive experience in this course, especially because of the professor. He is genuinely kind, patient, and understanding, and it never felt intimidating to ask for help when you were struggling. I also really liked the grading structure. Instead of having one huge midterm and final that determine your grade, there are smaller exams consistently throughout the semester, which makes the course feel much more manageable. At the end, he also gives you opportunities to retake exams and improve your grade, which takes a lot of pressure off and actually gives you a chance to learn from your mistakes. Calculus itself can definitely be challenging, but the way this course is structured and how supportive the professor is makes a huge difference.

Diffeq was over all an easy course simply because Prof. Camrud is a easy/fair grader. However, I'm not sure I could tell you a single thing I learned in the class because of the flipped classroom method of teaching. Teaching yourself differential equations is no easy task, and we were barely quizzed on anything which meant there little to no motivation to actually remember anything I learned. The weekly quizzes were super straightforward- just watch the lecture videos and know how to do the problems from the Labs in class. The last 2 quizzes of the course were brutal. The final project was really fun and he grades fairly easy, just be organized and clear with your proof writing.
