Evan Camrud

I took AB calc before this and I was very prepared. The structure of this class: lecture videos before each class, then mini lecture at the beginning of class then group assignment. There are weekly quizzes, but they are not bad at all. They are open note and can argue the rubric.

Professor Camrud is the goat. His class is very manageable if you keep up with the lecture videos and engage with your group mates in class. This class could totally be done self-paced and completely virtual, much like other math classes, but what makes it different is Professor Camrud's passion for teaching. He is always enthusiastic and quick to answer any questions you may have. He is supportive and looking out for his students, and is truly fun. For this class, you essentially have one open note quiz a week that in total, all the quizzes count to about 75% or 85% of your final grade in the course. Hence, it is pretty easy to get a high grade, especially since you can retake any of the quizzes to replace your grade as the final for the course. I love the way the class is structured.

You could immediately tell that Prof. Camrud is very passionate about the field of mathematics and truly cares whether his students understand the course material. I like his method of utilizing group work to make some of the material easier to understand by asking peers in your group. Overall, Prof. Camrud was a solid teacher.
