Overall I did enjoy this class. However, I do not think it is structured well for J-Term. The class was very fast-paced and required a lot of outside work. Homework was given every night and a larger assignment would be given over the weekend. In this class, I did gain a lot of skills and drawing techniques to use in the future. However, if you have already taken any sort of Intro to Drawing either in high school or a prior semester this class can feel like a repeat of material. Este was a fair grader, but is definitely looking for certain things skills-wise and will take off points for things such as the perspective being off. If you are looking for an easy low-key winter term or something to fulfill an art requirement class this is probably not for you. If you are looking to improve your drawing and are willing to dedicate time outside of class then I would recommend the course.

This class is quite advanced for a beginner-level drawing course. With prior drawing experience this class is not overly difficult, but the homework and projects do demand a time commitment if you want to complete them well. For those with no prior drawing experience, this would be a difficult class - assignments very quickly ramp up from introductory material to fairly advanced techniques and expectations. That being said, Este was very accommodating to students' needs and requests for extra time on assignments. Do not let the work pile up.

This is NOT an introductory level course. This is a course designed for studio art majors or similar levels. I came into the course expecting to learn the basics such as how to hold a pencil, yet, week three we were doing a photorealistic self portrait. I think Estefania is a fantastic high level professor, however, it is not for a non-studio art major.
