I learned a lot in the class and had a good time. I feel like the environment is very relaxed and low judgement, students come from many different levels of artistic experience, but the prof treats everybody with same regard.
Este was a super enthusiastic instructor for this course, I felt well-prepared and engaged in each of the topics we covered. I think our projects were a great opportunity to practice what we were learning. I do think that for someone without a background/interest in art, this might be a bit of an intense introductory course, but I really enjoyed it.
I was interested in this course because I thought it would be cool to have the ability to draw something realistic and accurate. I believe the Professor thoroughly explained how to approach the following: scale, perspective, mark making, and proportions. The class does ramp up its pace towards the end of the year, and I did feel that the student had to draw upon from previous lessons into new mediums and subjects --i.e. ink, pastel, figure drawings. That is to say that the course does not have a light course load, yet on the other hand the professor is an easier grader. If you are someone looking for a VERY easy course, then maybe do not take it. If you are interested in learning about art and developing foundational skills, I believe this course was very good in introducing the basics and providing a taste of different mediums. NOTE for those who love color: color is not the primary purpose of the course, mainly all drawing and works will be in black and white. Hope this helped.
