Estefania Puerta
This is NOT an introductory level course. This is a course designed for studio art majors or similar levels. I came into the course expecting to learn the basics such as how to hold a pencil, yet, week three we were doing a photorealistic self portrait. I think Estefania is a fantastic high level professor, however, it is not for a non-studio art major.
I have always really been into art and as someone who has mostly stayed within the same style of art but this class definitely forced me to try new modes. Each week or so we would focus on a new technique from drawing to pastels to water color and this really allowed me to expand my knowledge of art.
This is a very project-heavy course. If you're just looking to fulfill an ART credit, then this may not be for you - you have to put in a lot of effort and time to complete the assignments, so you need to have some intrinsic motivation. There was a good progression of difficulty, working to learn skills before using them later. I struggled with the final project where we had to tie everything together and come up with a theme independently.
