Studying Introduction to Macroeconomics has been a foundational and enlightening experience, offering insights into the broader workings of national economies and global economic systems. Throughout the course, I've gained a comprehensive understanding of key macroeconomic concepts such as GDP, inflation, unemployment, fiscal policy, and monetary policy. One of the most valuable aspects of this study has been its applicability to real-world scenarios. Learning how these economic principles influence decision-making at both the individual and governmental levels has provided me with a deeper appreciation for economic policy and its implications on society. Case studies and discussions on current economic events have further enhanced my understanding by illustrating theoretical concepts in practical contexts. Moreover, the analytical skills honed in this course are invaluable. I've learned how to interpret economic data, analyze trends, and evaluate economic policies' effectiveness. These skills are not only essential for academic success but also for making informed decisions in various career paths, from finance and business to public policy and international relations. For prospective students interested in macroeconomics, a strong foundation in mathematics and statistics can be advantageous, as these subjects underpin many economic models and analyses. Developing critical thinking skills and staying updated with economic news and research are also crucial for gaining a nuanced understanding of macroeconomic theories and their implications. Overall, Introduction to Macroeconomics provides a gateway to understanding the complex dynamics of economies on a national and global scale, making it an enriching field of study with broad applications across various disciplines and professions.

I loved this class and felt like it was very relevant to today. We began by learning about monetary policy and what the Fed does, then we worked in small groups to create our own presentation for the "Fed Challenge". The beginning of the course was more taxing than the end, but I though the work was fulfilling and interesting. At the end of the course, you pick a policy brief that you are interested in and write a paper on it. I loved being able to pick a topic I was interested in and she was a great resource. Overall, had a great experience!

Best class at Middlebury hands down, super easy, super insightful. If you need a 300 level elective for Econ this is the one you want. Professor Wolcott is also awesome. Presentations are all mainly group based and there are no exams or finals
