Emily Proctor

I took this class without a particular interest in maths - it was something my parents wanted me to take. With that being said, however, professor Proctor is clearly a very caring and crazy-about-maths person, although I would say the homework problems (5 written textbook questions and around 10 more online) being due 3 times a week took quite a chunk of time, professor Proctor makes herself very much available during office hours and holds helpful review sessions before each exam. She also grades exams to try and give you as much partial credit as possible, and the exams themselves don't include question types we haven't covered in class. She also uses very simple language to explain abstract calculus concepts and theorems. Good experience overall.

I found Professor Proctors teaching style fantastic and her enthusiasm was very refreshing. The course itself is not too difficult as she is very thorough with her teaching and is constantly checking for any questions. The homework is pretty straight forward and is good practice. The exams are a step up in difficulty from the homework but we are allowed a note card during them. I would very much recommend this course with Professor Proctor to anyone who needs to take Calc I.

I love Prof. Proctor. It should be stated I took this class having already taken Calc I, but she really makes this class geared for those who haven't. She makes herself very available for any help and provides a lot of good resources for anyone to use. She is super kind and sweet, and I can't say enough good things about her. She likes to get into the theory of math, which can sometimes be confusing, but otherwise, the class is great. The exams are pretty straightforward and easier/the same as homework or in-class problems. She doesn't try to trick you on them. When grading, she is super nice and is purposefully looking for points to give you and what you did right. Homework counts for a lot of your grade, so prepare to have to do it before every class. I had a great experience in this class, especially with Proctor.
