This is not a normal class, but a role-playing game in which everyone completes a different assignment and presents a different argument to make the game work. I thought this class was very interesting and was effective in teaching the nuances of how history, and our perceptions of it, can be shaped.
This class was both interesting and not too difficult as well. We had daily readings often with a short writing response in class. The readings were skimmable. Even though this course is a CW there are few large writing assignments. It is a very manageable and enjoyable course.
There was a lot of writing in the course. You are assigned characters to play with different positions on selected monuments. You then must speak and advocate as if you are that person. This involved working in a team and writing speeches and papers.
