There were A LOT of reading for this class, a whole novel for every week- I don't think the lecturer has a grasp on the average human reading speed so it was a lot for me. There's also a reading response required every week at least once. Heavy workload would not really recommend unless you are really passionate about the topic.

Super engaging and fun course. Its a great way to meet people and collaborate. Definitely learned so much public speaking skills which is super useful. Professor is super nice, and excited to be teaching this course.

If you're into mindfulness practices, you might enjoy this course. You're supposed to practice a form of mindfulness every day and keep a journal (two or three sentences a day) on your reflections, and we spent quite a bit of class time either practicing this or discussing it (more than I expected, at least.) I wasn't really expecting this focus, but it wasn't a bad experience. Readings are a mix of fiction, non-fiction, and academic texts, and I found some to be very meaningful for sure. More generally, you get out of this course what you put in. It's a seminar style class that you can kind of get away with not doing the reading for most days, but it makes for really boring discussions.
