Professor Evans was a wonderful FYS teacher. She was kind and passionate and the class format was unique. I came to class excited to participate each class and was engaged throughout. You will have to write papers and give speeches, however, the course material is interesting and lends itself to enjoyable work outside of class. There is a lot of collaboration with peers. I highly recommend this class!

This class is absolutely incredible. It is a very unique style of teaching since it is entirely "reacting" games (basically roleplaying during various historical events). There is a solid amount of reading involved and you write about five papers, but it was all very interesting and engaging. You kind of have to always be "on" during class though since it gets very intense at times, but it is always a blast and you get to know everyone very well.

Professor Evans is one of the sweetest profs you'll find at Midd. She brought food for us at almost every class meeting, and she found a way to make the coursework more fun than usual. She had the entire class participate in a Role Playing Game, which actually led to more engagement throughout the entire class, which meant we were learning more. Overall, Prof Evans is a wonderful person and a solid teacher.
