Deb Evans
This was a great class, and a fun introduction to classes at Midd. Deb Evans was extremely engaging and has a clear passion for these topics. Your classmates are important in how the class feels. If you are a bit of a history nerd and like a bit of drama, then this class is definitely for you. By far the most enjoyable of my classes for this semester
This class is entirely dependent on who is taking it. If your class is truly immersed and willing to feel a little stupid getting into character, it will be a ton of fun. You can get away with skimming the readings but the more in depth you go the more you will be able to take away from the class. I would not recommend this class if you are not comfortable with public speaking and group work as every single game each person had to present a multiple minute long speech, bare minimum. The workload is decently heavy at times for a FYS, but its honestly really interesting at times and Deb is always willing to help!

This was a really fun and interesting course. It's extremely immersive and in order to do well you have to truly understand the readings beforehand (you can get away with skimming them but at the very least you should watch a short video covering the concepts). Speeches were a key component in this class, so be ready for public speaking (but the environment was very relaxed so it didn't feel too intense). This is a very unique course and quite different from other FYS so I would recommend it.
