Very chill course. You go through assigned readings in class, which is lecture/small group discussion based. There are small homework assignments due before each class but they are very short and easy.
Professor Baird is an incredibly engaging and knowledgable professor. You will learn a lot in this class and it goes at an appropriate pace. Homework is once a week and is very chill. Exams are take home with one final project at the end of the semester. Overally, very chill and interesting class.
It is an interesting course and I enjoyed learning the material. It is important to have an interest in phonetics as the course is easy to slack off and not engage in. There is some computer work as well as conceptual lectures. The instructor was organized and passionate.
