I took this course for an IGS requirement and at first it seemed pretty intense but it is definitely doable. The readings are pretty interesting and we had to write reaction papers on the readings before each class which were usually less than a page long. There were no strict requirements for the reactions papers. You can think of it as similar to a Canvas discussion post. I would say Stanger is very well informed on the material and is excited to teach it. The "final exam" was a 5-7 page paper. There was a lot of reading but it is pretty interesting stuff. I would take another class with Stanger if I had the opportunity

Alison is the best. This class is a seminar based class so you do need to do the readings. There are only 15 people and they will know if you don't read. Other than that the only thing you have to do is write on paper and do a class presentation it so very very straight forward.

I am a junior now and this is the best class I've taken so far. Professor Stanger is passionate and knowledgeable, though some may find her grading a bit hard. The classes are discussion-based, and you often find yourself learning more from others than the reading.
