Professor Nuñez offers a variety of readings that are engaging and lead to personal reflection by challenging previously held beliefs about borders and also how they impact people at an interpersonal level. Some borders we discussed were viewed through the lens of personal narrative or by learning about sociopolitical conflicts. While we did have some dense reads at the start of the semester, they were balanced with other forms of media, such as songs, podcast episodes, and news articles. Guided group discussions offered a time for peers to contribute questions, thoughts, and connect readings to bigger concepts or past lectures. For the written assignments, there is a lot of space for both creative and analytical thinking. They also offer a lot of support and feedback and are very accommodating.
