Class pacing is relatively fast but the professor provides more then enough material to get to a level in which the in-class content is understandable. This out of class material is often quasi-optional (aside from the mandatory short writings and readings, there are lots of optional grammar review assignments), as to not be too much work for students who already are comfortable in reading or grammar. The focus is on speaking in class which I think is best for this level.

The class content was interesting and VanOrder has passion for Italian and the subject. He brings a positive energy to class, however coming from Accelerated Italian 123 I felt very confused, and left behind in the content. My grammer was nowhere near students who took the full year of Italian, and I really struggled on tests, homeworks, and in-class questions and discussions. If you are coming from accelerated into this course you may want to practice over the summer!

The instructor for this course was super enthusiastic and really enjoyed teaching us. You do need to put in some time studying the material each week, but the weekly tests were very straightforward and were similar to the exercises we were doing in class. I always felt very well prepared. She was a very fair and easy grader.
