The mindfulness class was a genuinely valuable experience that helped me slow down, refocus, and become more aware of my daily thoughts and reactions. One of the strengths of the course was its balance between learning concepts and actually practicing techniques. Rather than simply talking about mindfulness in an abstract way, the instructor guided us through breathing exercises, short meditations, and reflection activities that made the ideas feel practical and applicable to real life. Over the duration of the class, I noticed myself becoming more intentional in simple moments, like walking between commitments or starting my day. The emphasis on non-judgmental awareness helped me recognize stress and negative thoughts without immediately reacting to them. I also appreciated the classroom environment, which felt calm, supportive, and open. Everyone was encouraged to participate at their own comfort level, so the practice felt very accessible even for beginners. The class did require consistency and patience, but the benefits made it worthwhile. I left with tools I can actually integrate into school, relationships, and self-care routines. Overall, I would highly recommend this mindfulness class to anyone interested in improving their focus, reducing stress, or simply becoming more present in everyday life.

Waldron has a bit of a dry teaching style, and his slides have endless walls of text. Still, I found the material fascinating, and he's a very approachable professor to talk to during office hours. I also really enjoyed the meditation component of this course. A meditation instructor from outside the college comes in and teaches us a slightly different meditation technique each week. Because this class really emphasizes the cultural and habitual practices in Buddhist communities, it is great to have an interactive component like this. One note--though many psych and neuroscience majors enjoy this class, most of the material is not psychological or scientific. The class is much more humanities-focused, which is great if you're in to that sort of thing!

This course was a mixed bag. I did learn a lot about the topic of Mindfulness overall and the weekly meditations were a great addition. Professor Waldron knows a lot about the topic, but I often found lectures to be rather tangential and hard to follow, making expectations of what we needed to know a bit unclear. The course also had a lot more required reading than expected, and it was sometimes unclear how it related to the topics we discussed in class. Overall, it was an interesting course that I'm glad I took, but be prepared for the lack of organization at times!
