Tanya Byker
Professor Byker is the best professor I have ever had at Middlebury and Econ of Gender is her bread and butter. The classwork is very valuable, it's not too difficult and the discussions genuinely feel organic and organized. The content in this course is insightful and will make you think about gender in the USA in a different.
Econ and gender was one of my favorite classes i've taken at Midd. Maybe because of the course content but mostly because of Professor Byker. She is so effective in her teaching methods that I actually wanted to go to class at 8 in the morning.
The content in this course is boring, and the lectures can make you sleepy, but Prof. Byker is very passionate about this topic and does a great job explaining the concepts and models needed for success in the class. There are no challenging economic concepts in this course compared to other Econ electives as it is a joint class with gender studies, this made for easy papers and homework that are based on the concepts and basic models. Not the most interesting class, but worthwhile to complete the requirement for the Econ major.
